Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!! [Note: I'm being merciful and not tagging anyone. But try it anyway -- it's interesting!]

1. Did you date someone from your school? I didn't date at all in high school, but for a while during college I dated a guy who was a year ahead of me in high school. (He went to college down the street from me.) But we decided we were better as friends.

2. Did you marry someone from your high school? No, and I didn't meet my husband till after I graduated from college.

3. Did you car pool to school? No, I walked, and in retrospect it was a pretty long walk!

4. What kind of car did you have? None. I didn't learn to drive till after I graduated from college -- just wasn't interested, and with public transportation (the town minibus, and then the "T" in Boston in college) I didn't need to. I finally learned to drive because I wanted to get out to see my future hubby, over an hour away.

5. What kind of car do you have now? Toyota Camry...love it!

6. It's Friday night...where are you? (high school) Wow, I can't remember where I was last night! :-) Seriously, probably visiting friends or at home reading or watching TV.

7. It is Friday night...where are you? (now) Online! ;-)

8. What kind of job did you have in high school? Clerk-typist at local companies' offices.

9. What kind of job do you do now? Right now, I'm between jobs. I was a reporter and then a genealogist.

10. Were you a party animal? *Snort* Not so much!

11. Were you considered a flirt? God, no.

12. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? I was in chorus (mezzo) through high school and college.

13. Were you a nerd? Totally! I was the 'literary magazine, newspaper, chorus and French Club' student. And I enjoyed it!

14. Did you get suspended or expelled? Never. I did get in detention for talking to friends in class, though. (Then I wrote them notes instead.)

15. Can you sing the fight song? We have a fight song? (Actually, the closest I can think of was, "Three cheers for old Needham High, you bring the whiskey, I'll bring the rye..." ) I really had no interest in sports and never went to a football game, even though we had one of the oldest and most famous football rivalries in the country (Needham vs. Wellesley). See no. 13 for why. :-)

16. Who was/were your favorite teacher(s). Mr. Finn for English (I was thrilled when I went back to visit after high school and he told me (1) he stopped teaching Lord Jim after I complained so much about it, and (2) he taught one of my poems in his class!, and Mr. Lariviere (for French, natch) -- he was very supportive of me, funny, and I must say quite handsome -- and Mr. Richardson (Social Studies) -- a true character.

17. Where did you sit during lunch? Umm...the cafeteria? I'm drawing a total blank about whether my friends had the same lunch I did. I do think I probably sat by myself a good bit and blocked it out.

18. What was your school's full name? Needham High School in Needham, MA.

19. When did you graduate? 1979. (A bit of trivia: Four years later, future astronaut Sunita (Pandya) Williams graduated from Needham High.)

20. What was your school mascot? I have absolutely no idea. Guess I could Google it...

21. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Be a teenager again? Are you nuts?? I would, however, love to see all my friends again. I'm only in touch now with a couple of them. Back in the day, we called ourselves "The Club." We tended to be the shy outcasts, but we did so much together that it was a fantastic support system.

22. Did you have fun at Prom? I didn't go to the prom; my friends who also weren't going threw an un-prom party at someone's house, and I remember a lot of giggling, hiking in the woods in the dark, and eating some really yummy snacks. Sounds more fun than a prom to me!

23. Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with? See no. 22.

24. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? I've never been to a reunion, including the 25th...omigod, our 30th is this year! OK, I'm depressed now... This means I have till November to lose major pounds and win a Pulitzer... :-)

25. Do you still talk to people from school? I visit a couple of my high-school friends when I'm up in MA, and I drive by the school to see what it looks like these days. Currently it's sporting the ugliest, messiest expansion known to man. I hope it's still a good school inside!

High School List
I just posted the link to this on my Facebook status because I think my high school friends on Facebook would enjoy doing it. If I do it, I'll blog it.
