If I Knew Then What I Know Now: Part 1

As a blogger, what do you know now that you wish you knew earlier?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and I'm hoping the results will be helpful not only to me -- a toddler in the 'sphere -- but to you, too! Any tips, tricks, early missteps, hard-won wisdom, or other blog-related advice would be great to know about.

Many thanks in advance for anything you are willing to share!

Decide what it is to be
Political? mom-and-family? writing? advertising? Knowing what your blog is about helps target your audience and defines your post topics.

Mine is storytelling, and that means everything in life, because everything is a story. I like my patchwork quilt approach, but it doesn't work for everyone. I include stories, poetry, recipes, storytelling and book reviews, information about storytelling and the profession, family news, lots of photos...everything I'm interested in.

Re: Decide what it is to be
I've been thinking about this (targeting an audience). I know this blog takes the "scenic route" -- rambling through the lands of family life, personal activities, politics, wacky news, genealogy, humor and more -- but that's me. :-) I considered having more than one blog (one for each interest), but decided it would be too unwieldy.

Welcome aboard, Granny Sue!
