Sizzlin' Summer Scene

"Soft kisses on a summer's day
Laughing all our cares away
Just you and I..."
-- "A Summer Song," Chad and Jeremy.

Hard to believe that it's Memorial Day weekend already -- the unofficial start of summer!

Have any special plans for this weekend? For this summer?

How much of a crimp, if any, will gas prices be putting in your summer schedule?

Here at Fudgelady Central, summer -- at least part of it -- promises to be busy and exciting. My parents will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, and my mother turns 80. We, of course, will be helping them party! :-)

I asked about gas prices and travel because that's the hot topic on two of the email lists I'm on. Apparently a good number of folks who are faithful attendees at yearly events they love (music festivals, for example) are finding they can't swing it this year. This week I filled my tank -- which was still a quarter full -- and the tab was $54.01! And prices continue to go up, so I doubt we'll be motoring to Canada anytime soon...

So what's up with you and your families for Summer '08?

Yesterday, we visited my grandmother in Keene NH (150mi round trip), filling up at 3.81 beforehand. Today, a friend and I took the kids to the Peabody Essex Museum. No more shrunken heads, alas! but still some pretty stuff. Tomorrow, I work. (Total weekend net under 250 mi, or approx. 7 gal = $27.)
