So It Was Comcat, Not Comcast!

This would explain why we couldn't get online for eight hours yesterday!

But seriously, I think we can let the kittens off the hook and wait for the real answer from Comcast. It was a strange Internet outage; it affected every news outlet I tried in Philly, New York, Boston, Miami, L.A., etc. -- except for Google News and the Daily Dispatch in Henderson, North Carolina. Go figure!

I could get on my blog and a few others, but by no means all. I could, thankfully, get on some genealogy sites (FamilySearch and New England Ancestors), but not Ancestry.com, and absolutely not AOL or (of course) Comcast for my email. (Talk about withdrawal symptoms!)

And hubby couldn't get on World of Warcraft; you have to understand that, for him, this counts as a major tragedy -- sort of like me without access to chocolate.

The weird thing was that this got so little press coverage, during or after, as far as I could find. KYW's website had (and has) no reference to it whatsoever. Philly.com gives it two quickie paragraphs this morning.

I nosed around and did find this , this, this , and this .

After an hour or so of bleary-eyed early-morning attempts yesterday to "fix" my computer, I finally called Comcast and got the recorded message about the outage and how they were trying to take care of it.

Hubby said later it was about 4 p.m. before he could get online. Meanwhile, he did some great work around the house. Maybe, I suggested, I should ask Comcast to take us offline every Saturday!

(Kidding!! Just kidding. No hate mail, please.)

To wrap up (and because I can't resist), I'll just say it was an annoyance -- not a CATastrophe.

Ohhhh...is that what that was yesterday? The Huz mentioned he couldn't get online.

I'm sorry I've been a shitty blog-buddy lately. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Things will be changing shortly. I've made the decision to just get up from my desk at 5 p.m. and leave. Everybody else there does, so why shouldn't I? And if things fall to pieces, then I guess she'll decide that she needs to hire someone to help me.

Bleh. Didn't mean to make this about me. Sorry. But I'm going to start making a way better effort to make the blog-rounds, starting today.
