Tag, I'm It!

I am no longer a meme virgin.

Kelly, thanks for my very first tag! You never forget your first time... ;-)

Here's what she asked:

Q: How long have you been blogging?
A: Just since fall. I started blogging by accident! I opened a LiveJournal account so I could post a response to my friend Lisa's blog. Then I figured, "I might as well write something." (Now you can't shut me up!) My first post was "What I Did On My Thanksgiving Vacation," about my family's trip to see relatives and friends in Massachusetts. Just like that, I was hooked. And some serious blog fodder dropped into my backyard just days later, when "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson came to my tiny town to shoot part of the film adaptation of "The Lovely Bones"! This gave me my three-part "Hollywood East" series of posts; feel free to check it out! :-)

Q: What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors?
A: I had three blogging "mentors," although two of them don't know it. The first was a guy named David on the Aaron Sorkin Yahoogroup, who commented some years ago about blogging -- and I asked him the fateful question: "What's a blog?" My second mentor was Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak (no, that's not a typo) from Megan's Roots World. She spoke on blogging at a genealogy conference I went to a year or two ago, and encouraged us to start our own blogs. The thought floated around in my mind for a while, and see what happened!

And a special shout-out to mentor number three, Dr. Dino , whose blog I lurked on and learned from, and who taught me how to make text links!

Q: Are you trying to make money online, or are you doing it just for fun?
A: Pure fun!

Q: What 3 things do you love about being online?
A: (1) Reading women's life stories on their blogs. I am blown away by their caring, their courage, and the tremendous quality of their writing.
(2) "Hopping" from one cool site to another, learning a lot on the way!
(2.5) Stretching my writing muscles, trying different styles, and having readers!
(3) Becoming (bit by bit, pardon the pun) more high-tech!

Q: What 3 things do you struggle with online?
A: (1) So many great blogs, so little time!
(2) Deciding what is wise NOT to share. (And keeping up with my emails!)
(3) Getting offline! :-)

Now, rather than tag y'all individually, I invite anyone who wants to join the party!
